The other day I was looking at the calender and I realized something. In just 5 weeks I turn 26 years old, okay yes I'm not all that old but still it made me think. 26 years ago I was given up for adoption by a woman who although I've never met her, I'd like to think had extreme courage. I often wonder what she looks/looked like, what sort of life she had etc. When I was 8 years old I asked my adoptive mother , "Did my first mommy love me?" She smiled at me and said " Of course. Your mother loved you so much that she knew she couldn't give you everything you deserve, so she gave you to someone who could."
From what I understand, that's a fairly common question for young kids to ask, which brings me to the whole purpose for today's entry. WHY IS ABORTION LEGAL IN SO MANY STATES?
In 2009, there were 1.21 million abortions performed in the US alone. I couldn't find more recent statistics than that. (Before I get my inbox flooded with hate mail, I'm going to add this in here. I don't say that abortion is wrong for every case, (rape, molestation etc) all I'm trying to do is make women stop and think.)
Women often don't realize that there is another option. Show your kid that you love them and give them half a chance at a decent life. Give your child the ability to one day ask, "Did my first mommy love me"?
Share, tweet, whatever. We can unite together and help reduce the number of abortions in the US.
